Terms of Use
The short version
- The map is free reference information. It comes from public sources and may be wrong or out of date, so check with the operator before relying on it.
- Links you attach are public. Only attach links you'd be comfortable showing everyone, and follow the rules below.
- The facility data has its own licenses. If you reuse it, follow them.
- Texas law governs these terms.
Agreement
These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and Cloud Campuses ("we," "us"), which operates cloudcampuses.com and the Datacenter Atlas (the "Site"). By using the Site, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Site.
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Site. If you are under 18, you may attach community links only with permission from a parent or guardian. If you use the Site for a company or other organization, you agree to these terms on its behalf and confirm you have authority to do so.
What the Site is
The Site is a free map of datacenter and colocation facilities, with links to operator websites and other public resources. It is for general information only. It is not professional, engineering, real estate, investment or security advice.
Facility names, operators, addresses and locations come from third-party sources and visitors. Many locations are approximate, and some point to a city center rather than a building. Cloud Campuses is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any facility operator shown on the Site unless we say so.
Data sources and licenses
The Site combines data from these sources, each under its own terms:
- PeeringDB facility and operator data, licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0. © PeeringDB and its contributors, peeringdb.com.
- ATLAS Global Data Center Map: Data centers © Ringmast4r – Global-Data-Center-Map, used with attribution under its license.
- Natural Earth map data, in the public domain, and the world-atlas outlines derived from it.
If you copy or reuse facility data from the Site, you must follow these licenses, including attribution and, for PeeringDB data, sharing your adapted version under the same license. Nothing in these terms limits rights those licenses give you.
Community links
You can attach links to facilities. By attaching a link, you agree that:
- The link and its label are public, and anyone can see them.
- You are responsible for what you submit. You have the right to post it, and it follows the rules in the next section.
- You give Cloud Campuses a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to store, display and remove your submission on the Site, and to include it in data exports from the Site under the same licenses as the facility data. You keep any rights you have in your label.
- We may edit, hide or remove any link at any time, for any reason, without notice. We don't review links before they appear and aren't responsible for them, but we act on reports.
To report a link, email privacy@cloudcampuses.com with the facility and the link's web address.
Rules for using the Site
Don't use the Site, and don't attach links, to:
- Break any law, or help anyone else break one.
- Post malware, phishing pages, scams, spam, or links that hide where they really go.
- Post anyone's personal information, such as a home address, phone number, or private email, without their permission.
- Infringe copyrights, trademarks or other rights, including links to pirated material.
- Post sexually explicit, hateful, harassing, threatening or violent content, or content that exploits children.
- Share information meant to help someone physically attack, break into or disrupt a facility, such as security layouts, access codes or vulnerabilities.
- Pretend to be a facility operator or any other person or organization.
- Get around the hourly link limit, or overload, probe, scan or attack the Site or its links service.
- Scrape or download the Site in a way that puts a heavy load on it. To get the facility data in bulk, use the original sources listed above.
We may block access or remove content if we believe someone has broken these rules.
Copyright complaints
We respect copyright and respond to notices under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). If you believe material on the Site infringes your copyright, send a notice to our designated agent at privacy@cloudcampuses.com with the subject "Copyright notice." Include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- A description of the copyrighted work you believe is infringed.
- The facility and web address of the link or material you want removed.
- Your name, mailing address, phone number and email address.
- A statement that you believe in good faith that the use isn't authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner.
If we remove a link you attached and you believe it was a mistake, you can send a counter-notice that meets the requirements of 17 U.S.C. § 512(g). We will block people who repeatedly post infringing material.
Our content and trademarks
The Site's design, code, text and our arrangement of the data belong to Cloud Campuses or its licensors, except for the third-party data described above. "Cloud Campuses" and "Datacenter Atlas" are our names, and you may not use them in a way that suggests we endorse you. Other company names and trademarks on the Site belong to their owners and are used only to identify their facilities.
Third-party websites
The Site links to websites we don't control, including operator sites and links added by visitors. We don't endorse them and aren't responsible for their content, accuracy, security or privacy practices. You visit them at your own risk.
Disclaimers
The Site and everything on it are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement. We don't promise that the Site will be available, uninterrupted, secure or error-free, or that facility information is current or correct.
Some states don't allow some of these exclusions, so some may not apply to you.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Cloud Campuses and its owners, contractors and suppliers won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the Site or anything you find through it, even if we were told such damages were possible. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Site is limited to one hundred US dollars ($100).
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited under applicable law.
Indemnity
If someone brings a claim against us because of links you attached or because you broke these terms or the law, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with that claim, including reasonable attorneys' fees, to the extent the law allows.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas and applicable US federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before filing a claim, you agree to email us at privacy@cloudcampuses.com and give us 30 days to try to resolve it informally. Any lawsuit about the Site or these terms must be brought in the state or federal courts located in Texas, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction. Either of us may bring a qualifying claim in small claims court instead.
Changes and termination
We may change these terms by posting a new version on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Changes apply from that date. If you keep using the Site after a change, you accept the new terms. We may change, suspend or shut down the Site, or block anyone's access, at any time.
General terms
- If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
- If we don't enforce a term right away, we haven't given up the right to enforce it later.
- These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Site.
- You can't transfer your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours if the Site changes owners.
