Datacenter Atlas

Privacy Policy

Effective November 5, 2026 · Last updated November 5, 2026

The short version

  • You can use the map without an account. We don't use cookies, analytics, advertising or tracking pixels.
  • If you attach a link to a facility, the link, its label and the time are published for everyone to see.
  • To stop spam, we keep a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address for 24 hours after you attach a link. Then we erase it.
  • We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising or profiling.
  • Fonts and map code load from this site, so your browser doesn't contact Google or other services while you use the map.
  • Questions or requests: privacy@cloudcampuses.com

Who we are

Cloud Campuses ("we," "us") operates cloudcampuses.com and the Datacenter Atlas (the "Site"). This policy explains what information the Site handles, why, and the choices you have. It applies only to this Site.

What we collect

When you browse the map

We don't ask you for any information to view the map. Like every website, the Site receives some technical information when your browser requests a page:

Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes this information to deliver the Site and protect it from attacks. We also keep short-lived server logs of requests to our links service so we can find and fix errors (see How long we keep it).

When you attach a community link

When you email us

If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it and whatever you write. We use it only to answer you and keep a record of the request.

What we don't collect

We don't collect names, accounts, passwords, payment details, precise location, contacts or any sensitive personal information (such as health, financial, biometric, racial or ethnic, religious or sexual-orientation information) through the Site.

How we use information

We don't use information for advertising, targeted advertising, profiling, or automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

Who we share information with

We do not sell personal information, and we do not "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined in California and other state laws. We have not done so in the past 12 months. We disclose information only:

Cookies and browser storage

The Site does not set cookies. Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie if it needs to check that traffic comes from a real browser; it isn't used for tracking or advertising.

The Site saves a few items in your browser's local storage. They never leave your device unless you use them:

ItemWhat it doesHow to remove it
cc_delete_tokensHolds the removal keys for links you attached, so you can remove them later.Clear this site's data in your browser settings. You won't be able to remove your links yourself afterward; email us instead.
cc_admin_tokenUsed only by site moderators. Not set for regular visitors.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

The Site doesn't track visitors across other websites over time, and it doesn't allow other companies to do so. Because of that, a "Do Not Track" signal from your browser doesn't change how the Site works.

We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising. Since we don't do any of those things, you are already opted out whether or not you use GPC.

How long we keep information

InformationHow long
Hashed IP address from attaching a link24 hours, then erased
Community links you attach (facility, URL, label, time)Until you or a moderator removes them, or until we close the Site
Hashed removal keyAs long as the link exists
Error logs from our links serviceUp to 7 days, then deleted automatically by Cloudflare
Emails and privacy requestsUp to 24 months, so we can show we handled requests as the law requires

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

We offer these rights to every visitor, wherever you live, even where a state's privacy law doesn't apply to a website of our size.

How to make a request

  1. Email privacy@cloudcampuses.com with the subject "Privacy request" and say which right you want to use.
  2. Because the Site has no accounts, tell us how to find your information. For a community link, include its web address and the facility it's attached to. We may ask a follow-up question to confirm the request is genuine. We won't ask for more information than we need.
  3. We'll confirm we received it within 10 business days and respond within 45 days. If we need more time, we'll tell you why; the law allows up to 45 more days.

An authorized agent can make a request for you. We may ask for proof that you gave the agent permission. We don't charge for requests unless they are clearly unfounded or excessive.

How to appeal

If we deny your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision or emailing privacy@cloudcampuses.com with the subject "Privacy appeal." We'll answer within 60 days and explain our reasons. If you disagree with the result, you can contact your state Attorney General.

Notices for specific states

Several states have comprehensive consumer privacy laws, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Virginia, with more taking effect. The rights described above cover what these laws provide. The notices below add details that particular states ask for.

California

This policy is posted under the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA) and, to the extent it applies, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended (CCPA). In the past 12 months we collected these categories of personal information:

We don't sell or share personal information, we don't collect sensitive personal information, and we have no actual knowledge of selling or sharing information about anyone under 16. Under California's "Shine the Light" law (Civil Code § 1798.83), we don't disclose personal information to third parties for their direct marketing.

Texas and Nebraska

We do not sell sensitive personal information. If that ever changed, Texas law would require us to tell you: "NOTICE: We may sell your sensitive personal data." We would also ask for your consent first.

Nevada

We do not sell covered information as defined in Nevada law (NRS 603A). You may still send an opt-out request to privacy@cloudcampuses.com, and we'll record it.

Delaware, Colorado, Connecticut, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Oregon and others

We do not process personal information for targeted advertising, sale or profiling, and we recognize universal opt-out signals such as Global Privacy Control. Minnesota residents may ask for a list of the specific third parties we have disclosed their personal information to; that list is limited to Cloudflare, Inc.

Children

The Site is a general reference for datacenter infrastructure and isn't directed to children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, as defined by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), or from teenagers under 18. If you believe a child has submitted information, email us and we'll delete it.

Security

The Site is served only over encrypted HTTPS connections. We collect as little as possible, store IP addresses and removal keys only as one-way hashes, and limit access to the links database to the Site's operator. No method of storing or sending information is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security. If a security breach affected your personal information, we would notify you and the authorities as state law requires.

The map links to operators' websites, PeeringDB, OpenStreetMap, Google and links added by other visitors. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which this policy doesn't cover. Read their policies before giving them information.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here and update the "Last updated" date. If a change affects how we use information we already hold in a significant way, we'll put a notice on the Site before it takes effect.
